Are You a Routine Client or a Special Occasion Client?

Be honest.

Are you the client who already has your next appointment booked before you walk out the door?

Or are you the client who texts us with, “Hi! I have a wedding this weekend. Any chance you have something tomorrow?”

No judgment. (Well… maybe just a tiny bit.)

The truth is, most people fall into one of two camps. You’re either a routine client or a special occasion client. Neither one is wrong, but one of them is definitely easier on your nails, your wallet, and your stress level.

Let’s talk about it.

The Special Occasion Client

We know her well. She appears right before vacations. She books before weddings. She remembers us the week before Christmas.

She gets gorgeous nails, posts them on Instagram, gets a million compliments, and then… disappears into the wilderness for four months.

Sound familiar?

The funny thing is, this isn’t really about nails. It’s psychology.

Most special occasion clients don’t see nail appointments as maintenance. They see them as a reward.

  • “I have something important coming up.”
  • “I deserve to treat myself.”
  • “I’ll get my nails done for this one event.”

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with treating yourself. We fully support it.

But here’s where things get tricky.

Your Nails Don’t Know You’re Going to a Wedding

Your natural nails don’t care that your cousin is getting married. They don’t know you’re headed to Hawaii. They definitely don’t know your family photos are next weekend.

Nails are constantly growing. They’re constantly changing. They’re constantly exposed to water, keyboards, gardening gloves, steering wheels, toddlers, Amazon boxes, and whatever mysterious force causes everyone to use their thumbnail as a screwdriver.

(Please stop doing that.)

When enhancements are applied for one event and then left to grow out without maintenance, the structure changes. The support moves. The stress point shifts. And, suddenly the nail that looked perfect three weeks ago is carrying weight it wasn’t designed to carry.

That’s when lifting happens. That’s when breaks happen. That’s when people say, “Gel ruined my nails.”

Nope.

Time did.

Routine Clients Think Differently

Routine clients don’t book appointments because something exciting is happening. Tuesday is happening.

They understand that nail appointments are less about fixing problems and more about preventing them. Think about it like getting your oil changed. Nobody wakes up excited to schedule one. But everyone understands what happens when you skip it for 20,000 miles.

Routine care keeps everything functioning the way it’s supposed to.

The same is true for your nails.

Regular fills protect the structure. Consistent cuticle care protects the nail plate. Small adjustments happen before they become big repairs.

And honestly?

Routine clients spend a lot less time dealing with broken nails.

Consistency Is Actually Less Work

Yep, consistency is actually less work. This surprises people. They assume routine appointments are more maintenance.

They’re actually less.

When you’re coming in consistently, we’re making small adjustments. Tiny repairs. Minor reshaping. Everything stays healthy because we’re never playing catch-up.

Compare that to waiting four months. Now we’re removing old product. Reshaping everything. Repairing breaks. Starting over. That appointment usually takes longer and requires more work for everyone involved. Including your natural nails.

But I Don’t Want My Nails Done All the Time…

Totally fair.

Routine care doesn’t have to mean long acrylics with chrome flames and tiny gold seashells glued to every finger. (Although if that’s your thing… we support your artistic journey.)

Routine care can look incredibly simple.

  • A structured manicure.
  • Builder gel.
  • Short natural nails.
  • A soft pink that grows out beautifully.

The goal isn’t to have “done” nails. The goal is to have healthy nails. There is a difference.

Making the Switch

If you’ve always been an event-only client, you don’t have to suddenly commit to appointments every two weeks for the rest of your life.

Start small. Book your next appointment before you leave. Try keeping a simple neutral set for a couple of months. Notice how much easier your nails become to manage. Notice how much healthier they feel underneath. Notice how nice it is to never have that “Oh no… I need an appointment before Saturday” panic.

It’s honestly kind of addictive.
